WILT THOU GO WITH THIS MAN?

And they called Rebecca, and said unto her, Wilt thou go with this man? And she said, I will go. (Gen. 24:58)
It was an eventful day in the Oriental country of Mesopotamia. The day would go on record as the day one of the world’s history-changing decisions would be sealed.

  The Impending Transition

It started on this wise: Father Abraham was lying feebly on his bed; his life long pilgrimage almost expiring and the beautiful angels of glory almost touching the land of Canaan. Calling out to Eleazar, his loyal servant of many years, he saddled him with the responsibility of finding a better half for Isaac, who was at this point ready for marriage.

  The Profitable Acceptance

Setting out towards the nativity of his Master, Eleazar made his journey to Mesopotamia. After prayers and demonstration of unflinching faith in God, God blessed his assignment when the fair daughter of Bethuel, Rebecca, fulfilled the conditions set and eventually agreed to be Isaac’s wife.
.
It was time for Rebecca to make her own decision. This decision will determine a lot not only for her but for her offspring. The question posed to Rebecca was: WILT THOU GO WITH THIS MAN?
.
This question was essential because the decision must be one that the young lady made by herself and not one forced on her by any man.

The Pertinent Application

Dear reader, you are daily confronted with this all-important question: Will you go with this man? Every event you attend and sermon you listen to always has this undertone question: will you go with this man? The question you then ask is, “Who is ‘this man’ “?
.
This man is like Isaac, who was the only son of his Father. The man Jesus is the only begotten of the Father, full of Grace and Truth. This man Jesus is the sole heir of His Father’s expansi’e estate spanning heaven and earth, just like Isaac was the sole inheritor of Father Abraham’s bogus inheritance.
.
Just like Eleazar was the middleman in Isaac’s marriage transaction,  the Holy Spirit is the one nudging your soul constantly to go with this Man… and the scripture says that today Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To-day if ye will hear his voice, Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness. (Heb.3:7, 8)

 The Powerful Appeal

Before the Saviour calls again, you may cry a million tears, and waste precious years and life. He is calling you tenderly today, and the Spirit is constraining your soul, telling you to go with the man of Calvary who has paid it all for you to be reconciled with the Father.
.
I plead with you today, be wise like bride Rebecca and make this all-important decision today to go with this Man, for His heart is yearning after you and will make you His glorious bride.
.
He will shelter you in the special throne room of His Father and console you here and hereafter.
.
Will you go with this man? Why won’t you go with this man? Go with the Saviour Jesus today. The Spirit is bidding you right now.
.
Swiftly give Him Rebecca’s response by telling Him through the prayer of faith, “I WILL GO.”
