THE SIN THAT SO EASILY BESET ME

Evangel is the child every parent would desire to have.

She was pretty, intelligent, smart and a lover of God, say from the cradle.

In Sunday school class, she was always at full attention and participation. She so loved God and his work at her tender age.

Evangel had grown into a full-fledged woman and had become a preacher of the gospel. Whenever she walked into a place for ministration, the devil knew he was in trouble as miracles happened in God’s name… and demons are always afraid to stay in anyone under her ministration.

Because of the mighty acts done through her, many came to know the Lord Jesus. Her congregants anywhere she got called upon to minister were always beyond her hosts’ imagination.

God was with her. He gave her grace in abundance.

She was a great counsellor. You wouldn’t listen to her and remain the way you were before you went to her. But she needed help.

Something was wrong. Everything wasn’t just equal. Like Prov 26: 7 says, “The legs of the lame are not equal…” She preaches God’s word, and professes to be a Christian. But oh, her actions! A ‘lameness’ plagued her:

Temper.

Evangel had a very short temper. Whenever she lost it, everything that it touched got frozen.

With the same lips she uses to preach and admonish, she could curse, swear, throw tantrums, slash, stab and watch her target bleed… out of sorrow.

And after she wrecks the house, she snaps out of her temper. Disappointed in herself. She hated it, but that was just her. She wanted help – just as she helps those she counsels.

The sin that so easily brings a man down no matter the rain of oil of anointing poured on him knows no boundaries. He/she would always keep crossing limits and keep getting wounded.

Is your case like Evangels’ or is it worse? Sin is sin and entanglement is entanglement.

Gripped By A Besetting Sin?

What is the sin that wins you each time it passes the street of your heart, eyes, and mind? There are many sins but yours can just be one out of these numerous sins.

Are you defeated by lies, afterwards, you discover it was just worth not telling it. But you have, as at other times, told it again. It makes you weep uncontrollably.

It will beat your imagination that after 10 years of claiming to be baptized in the Holy Ghost, yet you still cannot break this yoke. You patch up and keep leading others to the right… and they keep standing… while you have an inner lion you’ve not dealt with.

Are you entangled with pornography? Masturbation? Immorality? Lies? Deception? Murmuring, backbiting and gossiping? Hatred and unforgiveness? Stealing?…

…but when you hold the microphone, men weep uncontrollably at the spoken words from your mouth. Yet there is this one sin that so easily entangles you and you just don’t know how to get out.

Hey, there is a way out of the death trap. Yes, this sin has put you down, but you can have a daily victory that brings you up.

Let’s call it the “victory that so easily comes my way.” It’s possible!

The Way Out Of Besetting Sins

“Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us.” (Hebrews 12: 1)

Looking into Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith. Hebrews 12:2

Do not mind the fact that the sin that used to pull you down aforetime could be high on demand, which makes your commitment to God low on demand.

If you would accept His hand to blot out all, you can be high on victory and never down on sin because greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world.

  • Run to the Savior who is the Redeemer and confess your helplessness to him
  • Ask him to forgive you for not giving him all about you, your strengths, your weaknesses.
  • Tell Him you are ready to overcome in His name and promise Him you did never let this sin or sins put your back on the ground again.
  • Mortify your members… put your body under… “My flesh, you don’t have power over me!”
  • Flee all appearances of evil.

Now that thou art saved… you can say, “I have laid aside the sin that so easily beset me and I can run my race with patience and no guilt.
