Equipped for the Quantum Leap

The Young Professionals Forum, an interdenominational initiative of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, hosted about 10,000 young adults from all over the world in an online interactive session for two days. This event spanned from Saturday 25th July to Sunday 26th July 2020. The Mega Summit was titled L.E.A.D. 2020 (an acronym for Leadership, Excellence, Ascent and Development). It was organized in line with the vision of the Grand Patron, Pastor W.F Kumuyi to equip, breed and develop young adults to become responsible and intentional leaders in every sphere of life.

For two days, seasoned and established speakers from different industries charged the online audience with encouraging words and practical guidelines on how to influence and contribute positive changes to their community. Topics of discussion ranged from entrepreneurship to financial management, leadership qualities and attributes, the mastery of emotional intelligence, and lots more.

In his keynote address, the Former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Mr Femi Pedro, spoke extensively around the theme of the summit “The Quantum Leap”. He educated the audience on the types of wealth and how to establish a legitimate source of wealth. He identified life as a process consisting of stages — from Stage 1 of dependence to Stage 4 of influence. The journey to successful leadership is influenced by a number of factors and one of the prominent factors is the mindset. Young professionals were encouraged to cultivate an innovative spirit, which he regarded as a core driver for growth.

During the panel discussion, John Enoh, CEO of Beeptool Communications & Integrated Services, emphasized the place of being proactive and cultivating a solution providing mindset. Other speakers such as Professor Samuel Bandele, the Seventh Vice-Chancellor of Ekiti State University and Mr Adams Adebola also spoke about the place of empathy and the importance of rendering help to others.

Real life illustrations on how to be a solution provider and a positive member of the community beyond occupying a political seat were given. Practical answers and solutions were also provided to young adults who had questions around emotional intelligence, work-life balance, entrepreneurship and leadership.

The Summit ended on an ecstatic note as the audience poured in their appreciation to the organizers and members of the executive arm of the Young Professional Forum via Facebook, Youtube and other social media and meeting platforms. The program was designed to fit the peculiarities and address challenges faced by young adults on their journey to leadership. It was truly a period of Leadership, Excellence Ascent and Development.
